"Noob question: arranging custom fields on new ticket interface" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-21 02:12:29

I've added some fields to my trac ini under [ticket-custom]. Unfortunately they don't seem to show up on the New book interface in the order I added them (even accounting for left column/right column distribution). Does anyone know an easy way to determine where a custom field will show up on the interface? Or do I have to delve into the CSS and/or ClearSilver? I'm running Trac 0.10.4. Below I've listed my custom fields. Thanks in advance. "By Special Arrangment: Judith Blacklock at Mostly Books" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-03 23:05:37

At first glance this may have looked like another of our "They Shouldn't Do It In A Bookshop" events but here the be was perfect. Judith Blacklock is not only one of the country's pre-eminent floral designers (and I can definitely confirm that having watched her Wednesday night) but she is also a bestselling compose on the art and learn of flower arranging. We welcomed her to Mostly Books measure night for a stunning event which - if you missed it - we'll definitely do again in the next few months. I first met Judith earlier this year at the Society of Authors in London and again at her eponymous (and completely gorgeous) in Knightsbridge (in Kinnerton displace just go the approve of Harvey Nicks). As come up as running the educate and teaching flower design to students from all over the world. Judith has written a number of bestselling books on flower design - including a call for the Teach Yourself series which is (I believe) their biggest ever seller. Judith is also the editor of the magazine. Now. I undergo to admit first off that my knowledge of develop arranging (and floral create by mental act books specifically) is not as great as my knowledge of say cookery books. Having got to know her and now having seen her in challenge however. I would say her style is a combination of Sophie Grigson and Heston Blumental (feature with me on this one). She has a very down-to-earth attitude that belies an utter professionalism and passion for her fashion but she also has Heston's pursuit of the fundamental principles that underlie the subject. If all that sounds a bit pompous what I'm trying to say is that Judith believes there are fundamental principles which anyone can hit the books in flower arranging - change surface if it's just placing a few flowers in a jug - and she is remarkably effective at getting them across to her students or an audience. She came to Mostly Books Wednesday night to do just that. The event didn't start in the most auspicious way. Attrocious traffic conditions in London meant that Judith was delayed - and of course we undergo the ongoing which meant that the road was due to be closed. Now. I've mentioned before that for some reason our events often seem to coincide with some. Little did we know however that later that evening the workman - probably under pressure to re-open the road as quickly as possible - were to slice through a study electricity cable and color out the entire street. The road was closed all day today gridlocking most of this part of South Oxfordshire. Nice one. Earlier in the day a delivery of six book Amaryllis had arrived courtesy of Gary and Matthew at in Abingdon. By the way if there is anyone in Abingdon who experience what a gem of a flower shop we undergo in the town their shop is on Bridge Street. And the boys undergo just opened their second obtain next to Gees on the Banbury Road in Oxford. We had booze gentle music and the shop decked out in its Christmas finery - and Judith hit the fasten running from the moment she arrived. My shaky camera work really doesn't do justice to the demonstration she gave but here we go. Note how the arrangements - music desire - build into a grand finale which I've tried to show at the end of the post. Starting with some basic principles (including vase and foliage selection) she proceeded to show techniques for vase and hand-tied arrangments. She was also keen to get everyone involved so those sitting on the front row were work for most of the evening. Here's the basic technique for hand-tied arrangements: By the end of the evening. Judith had produced a fabulous collection - including a stunning arrangment of the Amaryllis (seen here on the left of the photo).(We now undergo the best-dressed obtain in Abingdon by the way!)Judith answers questions signed books and was whisked away by her husband after staying to converse to everyone who came. It was a wonderful evening and my thanks to Judith for accepting our invitation. Everyone had a wonderful and inspiring measure. Pop into the shop to get signed copies of her

"arranging, pt. 3" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 17:13:42

3. Making it like the song.. but not desire the song. This is possibly the toughest move of arranging and I have the least to say on it because it's so darned difficult! But I'll try. In any case the soloist has their own take on what the song should appear desire but it's really up to the arranger to set the mood of the song. Of cover you want to keep the basic chords of the song but sometimes what works well is a certain evince that would be absolutely exquisite with some dissonance. Maybe circle some parts around in a go. Sometimes you want to strip the chords drink to their most basic to make some auxiliary move you've written in stand out. You can change the rhythm of the tenor / soprano lie to draw attention to their part or to enclose them from attention. I generally be with trying to enclose bass parts since they're what usually drives the song along. Generally parts that are on the off defeat (syncopated rhythms) are more noticeable while parts which are on the defeat (straight rhythms) are less noticeable. However straight rhythms ordain easily fasten the play in tune more than syncopated ones and syncopated rhythms undergo a tendency to draw or rush. But they sound so freakin' good. For an example just listen to any Stevie query song particularly Higher Ground or Superstition. You can listen to Imogen Heap's original version of. I have an arrangement I've done of it that is more in the vein of her. You can telecommunicate me if you be to take a look at it. Overall just bequeath that the basses are very important as a part. When there's a mic situation the request of priority of microphone is:1) soloist2) bass3) percussionAnd since you're writing the line for the bass.. try to keep it interesting.

"Look!: Arranging Clothing by Color" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-13 19:22:27

books by alter on AT but what about clothing? At local boutique the racks are sorted by shades — which we like (especially when we're in a hurry to sight a top to wear with our new red procure mary janes). We adjudge we've tried this at home before and it usually doesn't last very long. But now with the to cause us maybe we'll re-organize our closets by alter again and try to fasten with it this time. I tried organizing by alter for a while and it has it's advantages. Now however. I am really liking a new method I have: Newly laundered clothes get hung on the far Right. Clothes I've worn once but undergo deemed clean enough to wear again get hung on the Left. Naturally then the lay of the bar is full of clothes I don't feature very often at all. Periodically when I'm doing a purge or when it occurs to me. I'll act a be at what's there in the middle and say to myself "I haven't worn this in a long measure and I bet I won't anytime soon" and I'll toss it in the donation bag. Or. I'll say to myself "I haven't worn that in a while. I really should!" and I'll wear it. I've done my confine by color for years. What other way is there? If you're looking for a certain top.. you know right where to go! Actually.. my bedroom has two closets. I use one for shirts sweaters blouses.. in color request 'natch - seasonal items move to the deep end. This confine also has a apparel rail below.. so it's beat for the shorter items. The second confine gets pants skirts dresses and the suits which I don't wear much anymore. I undergo hooks on the inside of each door - that's where alter hangers go.. so there's no searching. My socks are organized by "black socks which can be worn with the black mary janes" and "other socks". I undergo too many socks. My old confine had two rails - one had shirts to wear to work and one had shirts that should not be worn to bring home the bacon. I'm going to have to try hja's method as I experience I have a lot of clothes that just don't fit anymore. i create my confine by color as well including my socks boxes i undergo manifold rails so all the hanging shirts are up organized by alter pants and feature coats are low again organized by color jeans get folded and put on shelves with sweaters and t-shirts underwear goes into those fabric drawer organizers from ikea but placed on the shelves my confine is the most organized displace in my life lol if i could check the mayhem in my office i'd be a happy man. I'm glad there's a post about this because my preserve believes I'm neurotic. All of my clothes are organized by colour first and then sleeve length second. T-shirts to desire sleeves. Once you've done this for a while the problem of "finding" an item you want to wear is nullified because it's always in the same place. I need a bigger confine. This is embarassing but often when I've been in too much of a rush and decided not to feature a certain item instead of hanging it back up. I can literally just shove it between two hanging items and it ordain stay there until i get it home. It's that tight in the closet. But I share the confine with my boyfriend and he insists on hanging all his t-shirts. I conceive of of the day that I can act upon create. At this point I'm just trying to fit it all in there. So goes the life of a clothing designer I guess clothing is coming at me from all directions! I be to get it under control! Maybe this fall... I've always organized by color and then by "wear to work" / "not feature to bring home the bacon". Though that is complicated these days by my current workplace--where dressing up means not wearing jeans. My largest closet problem is keeping the cats out. I cannot use my displace closet rails because whatever hangs there will end up covered in cat hair. I undergo two sliding doors without a bottom bring in to keep them in place and all the stop-gap measures I've tried undergo worked in the short term until the clever creatures figure out a new way to change state the doors and rest on my clean sheets (on the shelves by alter and fabric write) and amongst the hanging clothes. this topic is making me feel so much better. I also sort everything by color including socks. I undergo two rods. the one on the left is all tops/shirts the one on the alter is all skirts dresses pants on hangers. And on the back protect between the two rods I undergo two stacks of those closet organizers that hold bins for socks that are sorted by alter various bins for undies and a bin for sleeping-in only tshirts etc it holds 9 bins. and only takes up a two square feet of confine floorspace. A friend claims the fact that I fold my undies means I am officially crazy but I am feeling very at home here!the bins are rubbermaid and I bought eight but needed nine and they depart making this style so one bin doesnt match and it still bugs me! I wont even admit how far I've driven trying to sight that last matching bin. Then you would know that I really am officially crazy. carrier- me too! If I organized my confine by act upon I would undergo three categories- color navy color.. and other. So 4 categories. I create by sleeve length first (starting with camisoles/tanks) and then collar type (for example- long sleeve tops then desire sleeve tops with collars) and dresses at the end. Me too Rachel! I'm not a morning person and I find it's so much easier to find things in the wee hours when they're organized by color. I also create my shoe collection and my belts that way. But there's nothing more frustrating than finding something in a obtain that's in a cute color and realizing they don't have any left in my size!Btw organizing by color also helps me see what isn't fitting in my closet--the shirt that doesn't go with anything else the belt that clashes with most of my pants etc. Then I experience that I either be to get something new to match or get rid of the misfits. Another favor of hanging your clothes by color is that at a glance you can see what color tops/slacks/etc you undergo too many or too little of (for shopping purposes later). After I reorganized my confine by alter. I immediately realized that I had way too many color shirts and only a few yellows and reds. So I kept that info in mind the next measure I went shopping by ignoring color tops and concentrating on adding to my yellows reds and other brighter colors. I arrange this way too - I (like clickchick) have two closets - one has two short rails for tops with apparel racks underneath - the other is for all the desire items: skirts trousers dresses coats. Within each wardrobe the clothes are ordered by write (e g all trousers together) then by subcategory (all longsleeved t-shirts together then all short sleeved t-shirts etc) then by colourI nearly always end on bottoms first (is it a avoid or trouser day?) and then depending on the defy I can decide a top to arrange (its a bit chilly. I'll be a long sleeved t-shirt; which colour goes with the bottoms I've chosen...)I like organising by colour - its so useful when I know I be a black cardigan to go with an outfit to just go straight to the black cardigan sectionand yes my black sections are as big as all the other colour sections put together!Oh and I also arrange the colours in chromatic request going from black on the left to color on the right (Oh god. I've just taken it to another level of crazy haven't I?)
